LIMA, CAPITAL OF PERU
Lima was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January, 5th 1535. After being the economic and political capital of Spanish South America for nearly two centuries, today Lima is one of the most important metropolises of the continent with a population of nearly 9 million.
Set on the coast, Lima offers a warm and humid climate. The temperatures vary between 65 and 90 degrees from November to May, and between 55 and 65 degrees during the winter (from June to October).
Lima is divided into 43 districts which expand on the Pacific coast for more than 50 miles. Below is a description of the six districts which are most valued by the expatriate people already established in Lima, as well as a general idea of the rental prices (see characteristics of Lima apartments).
MIRAFLORES
The preferred district of foreign students and trainees alike, Miraflores offers a vast variety of apartments and houses suitable for every budget. Famous for its malecón (ocean front) and ocean view apartments, this district offers an impressive assortment of shopping, cultural centers, pubs and fine dining restaurants. SAN ISIDRO
San Isidro is the business and diplomatic district of Lima. Towers and buildings are located in close proximity to shopping, restaurants, cinemas and theaters. As a highly residential area San Isidro offers attractive properties surrounded by luscious parks, which are valued by expatriate people. The district is also famous for its golf courses and luxurious buildings, near which numerous modern and comfortable apartments can be found.

BARRANCO
A smart seaside resort at the beginning of the 20th century, its cultural diversity and colonial architecture has turned Barranco into one of the today’s most popular districts in Lima. Its ocean front (malecón) location may very well be the most pleasant in the city because of its serene and stylish apartments which offer an impressive view of the Pacific. The “Puente de los suspiros”, “Central Park”, the street performers and the old tramway station give a romantic touch to this place which is regarded as the bohemian center of Lima.

SURCO
Surco is one of the largest districts of the capital. As a highly residential area, handsome houses and big luxurious apartments surround nice parks especially in Chacarilla. LA MOLINA
A Highly residential district set on the hilltop of Lima, La Molina is famous for its large avenues, numerous parks, and attractive lakes. Sunny for almost the entire year, many expatriate families choose to reside in this neighborhood. Beautiful and large properties are often equipped with swimming pools and gardens, which are close to luxurious apartments with flat roofs that rule over the city. LA ENCANTADA DE VILLA (CHORRILLOS)
